Verification

What our badges mean

Every badge on Flobid links here, and this page says exactly what has been checked and what has not.

Verification levels

  • Email confirmed: the user confirmed an email address, but there is no public badge.
  • VAT-checked: the VAT number is valid in the EU register VIES and the name matches.
  • Verified (suppliers only): the company has also been checked in its national company register and Flobid has reviewed the documents.
  1. Email confirmed

The user confirmed an email address, but there is no public badge.

  2. VAT-checked

The VAT number is valid in VIES and the name matches.

  3. Verified

Suppliers only: also checked in the company register, documents reviewed by Flobid.

VAT-checked

Flobid looks the VAT number up in VIES, the European Commission's VAT register, and compares the registered name with the company name. When VIES is unavailable, the check is repeated later. For buyers, this VAT check is the whole verification: suppliers see a buyer as verified when its VAT number has been checked in VIES.

Verified

In addition to the VAT check, Flobid checks the company number in the national company register (for example Bolagsverket, KRS or the Handelsregister) and reviews the documents the supplier submitted. In version 1 this is done manually by Flobid.

Certificates

Suppliers upload certificates with their number and validity, and Flobid reviews them before they are shown as valid. Expired certificates are no longer shown as valid.

Sustainability information

Sustainability details are the supplier's own information unless the page says they have been checked.

What verification does not cover

Verification says that a company exists and is registered as stated. It is not a guarantee of quality, delivery or payment. Always agree terms with the supplier you choose.

Frequently asked questions

What does VAT-checked mean?

The company's VAT number was checked against VIES, the European Commission's register of VAT numbers, and the registered name matched the company name on Flobid. It tells you the company is VAT-registered for trade within the EU. It does not on its own say anything about quality or certificates.

What does the Verified badge mean?

On top of the VAT check, Flobid has checked the company in its national company register and reviewed the documents it sent. The badge is shown on the profile only once that check is complete. The verification page lists exactly what is checked for each badge, so you know what the badge means and what it does not cover.

Are certificates checked?

Yes, suppliers upload their certificates, such as FSC, PEFC or ISO 14001, and Flobid reviews the document before it is shown as valid on the profile. Certificates are shown on the profile together with their validity date. As a buyer you can also ask for specific certificates in your request, and suppliers that hold them are preferred in the matching.
